Week 6

This week's major developments: The nose, mouth, and ears that you'll spend so much time kissing in eight months are beginning to take shape. If you could see into your uterus, you'd find an oversize head and dark spots where your baby's eyes and nostrils are starting to form. His emerging ears are marked by small depressions on the sides of the head, and his arms and legs by protruding buds. His heart is beating about 100 to 160 times a minute — almost twice as fast as yours — and blood is beginning to course through his body. His intestines are developing, and the bud of tissue that will give rise to his lungs has appeared. His pituitary gland is forming, as are the rest of his brain, muscles, and bones. Right now, your baby is a quarter of an inch long, about the size of a lentil bean.

Oh Baby!
Mood:  not sure

As early as this week, the plate that will become the heart has developed. Your baby's brain, spinal cord, muscles, and bone formation are also beginning to form. The baby's skeleton is forming at this time as well. The embryo has a distinct organization that has a top, bottom, left, right, front and back.

It's so exciting to learn what's going on in terms of fetal development.. it moves so quickly and is amazing to see.. here's a pic of what it looks like this week!

Secrecy Sucks
Mood:  a-ok

Not much happening on the baby front.. we've told our parents but thats it as Jeremy refuses to let me tell anyone until we see our dr. on the 10th. I think it's more of a mental thing for him as he thinks teling people is bad luck. I don't believe in bad luck so can see where we disagree on this.

Physically, nothing's really going on there either! Tons of trouble going to the bathroom..also my boobs are starting to get a little tender, aside from that, i'm good! ( if that's TMI for you, I don't advise reading this bog moving forward.. it'll only get worse, I promise.)

Mentally, I am just so excited. I've been wanting this for about a year but we were really waiting to try until now.. mainly because I will finish grad school right before my due date and I wanted that to be done.. I also REALLY wanted a spring/summer baby and it looks as though I've gotten my wish!

We have not told Collin yet, he is, after all, only "almost-4" (Nov.1st) and it would be a LONG 9 months for him if he knew now. ANyway, thats all for today!

Happy Birthday to me!
Mood:  lucky

Happy Birthday to me! This week (today to be exact) I turn 29! I'm living up the final year of my 20s and I'm doing it in style: with a belly, some bigger boobies and a baby!

What a great present to have found out this week that Jeremy, Collin and I will be welcoming a new baby at the end of May 2008. Our first Dr. Appt is not until October 8th so we're waiting until then to make a public announcement.

Regardless, we are ecstatic about this development! We've been thinking and trying to plan this for a while now and the timing could not have worked out better.
